The BBMRI-NL biobank catalogue is a searchable database, containing information on several Dutch biobanks. To date, there are over 200 biobank collections listed. Researchers can use the catalogue to search collections on specific disease types, GWAS data, types of biomaterials, and many other variables.
Furthermore, the contact details for each biobank coordinator are available so that researchers can request data and/or materials directly from them.
The BBMRI-NL catalogue will give researchers an overview of a large set of sample collections, studies and biobanks that include biological samples that are being preserved in the Netherlands. All samples should in principle be available to order for further analysis.
The BBMRI-NL catalog can help researchers in the identification of possible samples that could be included in their research, depending on basic characteristics such as sex, age and type of disease.
The catalogue displays basic information about the sample collections with the objective of helping researchers to quickly identify samples that are potentially useful.
The catalogue is also the source for the Dutch biobank collections in the BBMRI-ERIC biobank Directory.
The catalogue is a tool that will help you:
The BBMRI-NL catalogue can be useful for researchers willing to reuse data or samples already collected by others with specific characteristics. Moreover, it also gives the opportunity for gathering large datasets and conducting individual-participant data meta-analyses.
The catalogue is the first entry point for researchers to get an overview of the biobanks collections associated with BBMRI-NL. It is an actively maintained database (i.e. it is constantly being updated).
If you are a researcher looking for samples or associated materials, please visit the catalogue website.
If you are a biobank coordinator, and would like to add your biobank / cohort to the BBMRI-NL Catalogue, please contact the Service Desk.
The catalogue is an easy to use website, for which no specific training material is available.
The search in BBMRI-NL can be performed in two forms:
We are working on the integration of a generic request workflow for access to samples and related data. In the meanwhile access must be asked directly through the contact person assigned to the specific sample collection. The e-mail address of the contact person can be found on the detail page of the collection, by clicking on the magnifying glass.
For biobanks, a "data integration manual" will be sent when they request inclusion in the catalogue.
